The Burnet News Club
A network of inspiring school news clubs run by The Economist Educational Foundation, a charity that was set up from inside The Economist newspaper.
• We give teachers training, exceptional current affairs content, resources and support to run one of our unique news clubs at their school.
• All clubs in the network focus on the same news issue at the same time. We explore a new issue each half term.
• Students' work is published online and club members from different communities have lively discussions with each other and with experts in business and politics.
ABOUT THE CLUB
The Burnet News Club gives disadvantaged young people an informed view of the world, the thinking skills to form sound opinions and the confidence to have their say.
Where club members discuss their views on current affairs. We give them daily feedback to develop their skills, and we invite relevant experts on each issue to respond to their posts and comments.
Each half term we provide a package of interactive news content called 'The Issue'. The Issues are created with journalists at The Economist and they are beginners' guides to big stories in the news. Each one covers a new topic in depth and includes detailed lesson plans and ready-to-go resources for Burnet News Club teachers.
