Curiosity Corner Competition no.26

Last week we asked you to be curious about what health care is like in other countries. Lil’tycollector from St Peter’s Primary School asked a question that compares the NHS to lots of other systems, like in America, where they have to pay for health care. This question was debatable and shows that Lil’tycollector has been really curious about the issue. Well done!

Enter this week’s competition here.

TIPS FOR GREAT QUESTIONS

We look for questions that make people think about the issue. Make sure they are:

  • Debatable – make sure people could have different points of view on the answer.
  • Based on what you have learned or thought about the issue so far.

Should we employ a system similar to the French carte vitale card system because this would give more money to the NHS as then you would have to pay for your treatment, but most (not all) people are reimbursed 70 to 100 percent of the 23 euros for a gp visit depending on the severity of the illness and your income. This system is only for GPs though and not for emergency treatment.

This is a reply to deltas comment. Here in the UK, yes we have free healthcare, but you could argue that because other countries that spend more money on their healthcare have better healthcare .Please leave a comment on if you think my opinion is right or wrong. MrClash

The NHS has been going on for 69 years now,and this is the only point in time where we have had a real problem with it.Should the government be spending more money on it?I think personally that citizens of England aren’t dong enough abut it and if it keeps going no like this the most fair thing to do would be raising taxes or spending more money on the NHS yearly. MR CLASH

In the UK,there are only 1o500 Gp practices which is very low.To increase this number,I think we should employ more nurses and doctors so this number can increase and more people can get seen and they will get seen quicker.

In America there is a system called Obama care it has free healthcare just like the NHS but only for the unfortunate and people who have a lot less than we do.

    • Hi -unique31. You’ve shown excellent curiosity here looking at health care systems in different parts of the world. Do some research and let me know, what’s the most recent thing to happen to Obama care?
