This week, we'd like you to show how media-minded you are. Can you come up a headline for the latest Brexit news?

YOU CAN CHOOSE:

Either: one that is realistic and sticks close to the facts of the situation

Or: one that is made up and misleading, that could be called 'fake news'

Then, you need to explain what the consequences would be if your headline was shared a lot. Remember, consequences can be positive and negative.

  • My headline is...
  • It's supposed to be real/fake.
  • If it got shared a lot then...

  • Ballistic Brexit stealing our attention

  • Brexit Causes Chaos

  • MPs Reject Brexit

  • My headline is Brexit is a lie!
This is supposed to be real because people lied that NHS would get more money but it is a huge lie!
If it got shared a lot that it is a lie then people would know and we wouldn’t be in this mess that we are in right now.

  • Britain has left the EU for AU (African Union)

  • Do you agre what people say?

  • "No brexit? Therexit!"
It is supposed to be real because reports suggest MPs have told the Prime Minister in phone calls that she has to go as her deal was not voted through.
If this was shared a lot people might agree that she should leave because they aren't happy with how things are going.

  • I agree with you because lately all people talk about on the street and on the news is brexit and wether we are leaving or not.

  • Deal or no deal ? Which box will they choose?

I have chosen this headline for the vote that happened last week.

  • I chose this headline because i don`t know if Brexit is actually leaving the EU (Europe Union)

  • Will There Ever Be A Brexit?
Its supposed to be real because Theresa May wanted to delay Brexit after her vote did not go through.

  • We might have some important issues to be focusing on and then Brexit comes in and steals the spotlight. We can’t be letting this happen to us. We sneed to be focusing on our lives. Even though this may be a huge change in our lives, we don’t deserve this. We deserve for this to be over and done with and for Theresa May (and other members of Parliament) to get this deal over and done with. This needs to be dealt with sooner or later. A big part of our lives is being stolen by the votes that these people have chosen. I’m not saying any of your options are wrong. We all have different opinions. You may have thought that this would be the best option for you and your family.

  • My headline would be: ‘Frustrating fusion escalating throught our towns’. It causes arguments, and it is constantly escalating like a ball of yarn; you never know how long it could be, and how long it could travel.

  • My headline is that Brexit shows us another vote is needed and that this country might never be at peace. My comment is supposed to be fake and if this comment gets shared on the internet or world wide it will cause arguments between people and it will confuse people ,on the other hand other people may believe it and support it. Also my fake news will cause other people who read it to be angry with me because they might think it is wrong for someone to be sharing news that isn't real and it could hurt other people feelings and what they think about their opinion, which is bad because if someone does feel like this then it's bad because no one should feel like this despite the fact that we have free speech. Also the person may feel like their opinion isn't strong or right when there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to your opinion.

  • MAN FALLS OF THE SHARD SURVIVES
This is fake as you would die and that is impossible to survive.
If this got shared a lot then people would try it and that is life threatening.

  • My headline is:
    Indecisive Brexit Causing Chaos!
It is real and fake at the same time because it isn't really recent news about Brexit but it may some up a little part of it because the MP's can't decide what they think would be best for the country, leave with no deal, just stay... it is chaos.
If my headline got shared... I think people would agree with me because some people agree that we should just stop this and stay; some want a revote and others just want to get it over and done with.

  • My headline is:
    Brexit Causing Catastrophic Chaos
I chose this headline because most of the people in the UK want to have another referendum because they think that the vote that involved Brexit is not fair and they want to have another vote and Theresa May failed to try to stop Brexit from taking place and most of the citizens of London are protesting for another vote based on Brexit.

  • Brexit causing disarray!

  • I chose to have that header because brexit was in 2016 and we are still in the process now in 2019.

  • My headline is 'Britain's final thought of Brexit'. I would call it that because people in Britain want to have another referendum but no one knows if there will be anymore and nobody know whether Britain will be leaving the EU. I think it should be a true headline so people should know if there will be a referendum. if it was shared to everyone then i think there will be a big fight because no one knows the answer.

  • Deal or no deal? That is the question.

  • Theresa May has an affair with Donald Tusk in order to get a good deal
    don´t worry this is fake
if it was shared Britain would not trust Theresa May

  • Donald Tusk kills Theresa May!
This is fake but if this would be real this would make a big change in Europe and it would make a Europe war

  • The Donald Tusk deal.
I choose this because Donald Tusk pretty much controls the deal and the time pressure involved in it.

  • Brexit is a parasite for the EU
It's supposed to be real because they don't want to accept their decision and they are always delaying the date
If this was share lots it could create a civil was in the UK.

  • Teresa May kills Donald Tusk!
    Dont worry, this is fake.
But I dont think in this moment she wouldnt. ;)

  • Spain spells all the UK nations

  • BREXIT ENDS UP IN HANDS OF THE EU

This is supposed to be real as the deal Theresa May did has been once again rejected and she has only 11 days left, this means that she has to go and beg Donald Tusk to extend the time limit. If Donald Tusk says that he isn`t going to extend the time limit I`m sure the UK wont go without a deal.

  • Teresa May marries Donald Tusk
It is supposedb to be fake
If this got share people in England would get mad

  • this is fake because this would make caos and violence and it wiil be unfair for british people

  • My headline is "Brexit Causing huge Chaos"
This could be a real headline.
I chose this headline because a lot of people in the UK want to have another popular vote because they think that the vote that involved Brexit is not fair and they want to have another vote and Theresa May failed to try to stop Brexit from taking place and most of the London habitants are protesting for another for Brexit.

  • Theresa May leaves United Kingdom to live in the Bahamas´ as she doesn´t have to pay any taxes.
    This is fake guys!!!!!!
Although, if it were true, probably there would be a mass migration to the Bahamas (maybe) and there would be complete chaos in the UK

    1. That is very true there would be chaos🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬

  • Theresa may leaves town of westminter to betray the citezens of london

  • headline; chaotic brexit breaks the law

  • BREXIT IS FAKE!
If this headline was to be shared it would get way too many peoples hopes up and it would be unfair on them because they might not of ever heard of sceptisusm or atleast 'fake news'.

    1. no it isn't because I went to see the house of lords

  • Brexit Gets Postponed For One More Eternity
don't worry we will get a deal.
    (fake)

  • My fake title is: Brexit cancelled! the people's vote
If this was a news headline it would cause a victorious uproar for the british citizens who voted to remain I the european union

  • BREXIT FAILS!!!!!!!

If this went viral this would probably make some people furious and some people happy. Which would probably stop some arguments but start some new ones.

  • My headline is, 'Brexit Brawl' this is a headline i made up in my head but it could be a real on as i think it perfectly describes the Brexit scene at the moment, especially with all the arguments going on in parliament. if this got quite a bit of publicity i think, particularly for the countries involved, it would make people in them annoyed as they have probably heard enough news already about Brexit. It would probably make them sigh and think about how much of a mess it is.

  • 10 Days Until...DANGER
This headline is true but is exaggerated to let people know the current state of our country's Parliament.
If it is shared a lot than hopefully people will wake up to the fact that in ten days we are either staying or going.

  • Theresa May cancels Brexit, another referendum organised!
This is fake!! I mean, we have democracy and so we can't go back on our word.
If this was shared then everyone would be delighted because brexit would be canceled but there would be outrage because it would ruin our democracy.

  • "Brexit Breaks Britain" would be my headline.
This is supposed to be true; because if we leave Britain without a decent deal, well, britain would break!
I think if people saw this, some may agree, but some will not.

  • My headline is, 'Brexit breakdown." This is a fake headline that i made up in my head and I think that if this was shared then people may become panicked. This is because the word 'breakdown' implies that people who support Brexit are no longer confident in their decisions. People may become worried and step out of line when they hear that the people in charge of making their countries most important decisions have fallen apart.

  • this would be bad as then we would never get an answer

  • I think that brexit is terrible because we do not want to leave the EU because that would cost even more money if we want to travel and money is hard to get if you have children 🇧🇬😡😡🇧🇬

  • my headline is:
    BREXIT, BRILLIANT OR FOOLISH
This would be a great headline as it would defiantly grab someone's attention and could even have lots of opinions written in the text under the headline. it would also make people who aren't bothered about bexit start realising what is going on and make them what to know what is going on and find out if brexit really is a good idea on not

  • 'The money saved from leaving the EU will result in the NHS getting £350 million a week'
Firstly, my headline is stating that, once we leave the EU, a substantial amount of money will go towards the NHS per week. This was quoted by the Leave and many articles state that it was a very serious mistake. Many people believed that £350 million was going to help the NHS however now it will be adapted to £250 million. This quote is meant to be fake news as the Leave decided that it was a lot of money to be supplied to the NHS and thus, the news stated that it was a mistake and then they affirmed another amount. However, after the amount decreased, it is real news as the event will (hopefully) take place. On the other hand, if this article got shared, then it wouldn’t be beneficial as many people would be ecstatic for the NHS, but once they find out that it is not true, the public may feel disappointed. Furthermore, this could lead to the public having the wrong knowledge about Brexit and they may be expecting something to happen, when it, possibly, will not. In addition, the referendum did not only share it with the news, they had a bus which had the quote painted on it. To summarise, 'The money saved from leaving the EU will result in the NHS getting £350m a week' is misinformation and the referendum have decided on a new plan.

  • Brexit: People ponder for the second referendum

This news is not real; however, it could happen.
If it got shared then many people will start to think more tactically about what box they're going to cross. They will start to think about the consequences and the REAL positives of the box that they'll cross. For example, the fact that the UK would become independent. They'll start to think about if we'll be able to trade. And they'll start to think about the positive: the UK will be able to make its own rules.
The government will start to think about how much information they're going to give to the people. This is because I think that most people sitting in the house of commons are fed up of hearing continuous negotiations. So they might want to just stop. They may give definite things that would happen if we went forward with Brexit and definite things that would happen if we remained.
'Older' people who voted during the first referendum may think, "I need to try and think of every possible outcome. What's best for us all?"
This is because they've experienced Brexit for the past two years and they may be able to think of what could potentially happen.
Also, people may start to think that they shouldn't vote. They may think that they're a partial reason why the UK is in a political crisis. More people could keep their vote secretive.

  • My headline is : Theresa May fly's to Brussels yet again
    Its supposed to be real
If it was shared a lot then people would get mad about there own opinion and there would be a mas overcrowding to see Theresa May

  • Millions leave Britain!
This one could be true because i heard that some British people are trying to get Irish passports to escape Brexit.

  • Theresa May runs into an ice cream van

This seems funny and people will take it literally so more are likely to pick the newspaper up. However, they don't know that it will be all about the obstacle Theresa May is trying to get around with Brexit.

  • May cannot handle more heat with her upcoming age . A deal is not permitted, may leaves the boiling kitchen!

  • Ms. May resigns as PM.
This could be true because Theresa May might be considering resigning.

  • "Brexit expected to ruin the lives of millions around the world, take action whilst you still can!"

My headline is fake. I believe that it would be shared very quickly as people have a tendency to be attracted to titles which are over exaggerated. Once this has happened the effects would be widespread and dramatic. Few would actually fully engage and read the article and those that did would have their voice drowned by the uninformed opinions of others. People would use this article

Because we, as human beings, want to read articles that are invigorating and exciting those articles which are fake will be passed around much more than those which stick to the blander truth. Fake news is a huge problem at the moment and stopping to verify the facts can help society sift through these articles.

  • ‘Brexit: border control finally in our hands!’

This is fake news. We already have full control of our own borders because Britain opted out of the border free Schengan area, (yes who would have thought we had a choice) which means anyone who wants to enter the UK still needs to present a passport for security checks by a UK Border Force official. Moreover, UK authorities can refuse entry to any EU citizen on public policy, public health or public security grounds. During the Syrian refugee crisis, I think the media stoke people’s fear and raised concerns about the UK’s ‘migration problem’ and terrorists coming in to the UK because we were tied to the EU, which misled people to think we had unfettered border controls, but if that was the case we can only blame our British border officials, not the EU. I feel a headline like this makes it easier for people to vote leave.

  • My headline is...Trump refuses to secure a trade deal with U.K
    It's supposed to be...fake.
If it got shared a lot then...It may evoke some controversial discussions because the UK needs to secure a deal and not to do it may be found disputable by some especially because Trump or shall I say America doesn't lose anything from securing a trade deal with the UK; also America and the UK are allies and some may feel that Trump is threatening a strong alliance between two superpowers.

  • Brexit: Sterling falls on no-deal worries.

  • Brexit votes: What happens next?

  • Will we ever decide: stay or leave?

  • Brexit - What could happen next as 29 March approaches?

  • This news is not real; however, it could happen.

This is because they've experienced Brexit for the past two years and they may be able to think of what could potentially happen.
Also, people may start to think that they shouldn't vote. They may think that

  • new study shows that brexit is drenched in fake news i hope you like it

  • Will the UK ever get a deal, and how are we supposed to know if it's a good deal ?
This head line is supposed to be real but could end up being a real head line if it does this goes to show how easily fake news can spread. If you do see a news online and don't think is right make sure to check on other websites to make sure it true before you spread it or judge it.

  • My headline is...New study shows Brexit is drenched in fake news!!!!!

Its supposed to be ...fake .

If this headline go shared to the World...It may cause chaos, barney or an argument. Imagine if this happened the people from england will be leaving. So if you read this would you leave brexit or stay in brexit ???

  • Larry the cat was murdered by cat hating May

    CLICKBAIT alert.

If this headline was shared through the world I would be sure to personally see her go to the deep depths of hell and she could maybe at least make a successful hexit ( hell exit ) there.

  • Teresa May killed the cat Larry at the prime ministers house
    Click bate (fake)
If this was shared it would of become viral and there will be 3 minutes of silence in every football match.

  • My headline is: IF TERESA MAY CONTINUES LIKE THIS WE WILL HAVE A CIVIL WAR

  • Larry (the cat) has babies and Theresa May trades them with Donald Tusk

    THIS IS A FAKE HEADLINE

If this is spread all over the world people would not like Theresa May because it is not a very good trade and poor Larry will not have his baby which would make people sad.

  • THERESA MAY PAYS DONALD TUSK TO GET A BETTER DEAL
    This is fake
if this was shared it would make Britain not trust Theresa May and probably getting rid of her.

  • THERESA MAY ABUSES LARRY THE CAT!

This is supposed to be fake.
If a post with this headline got shared a lot England would get angry with Theresa May as Larry is a loved cat throughout the country. Also they would probably arrest her as animal abuse is illegal. This would ruin her career and people would hate her for life.

  • Theresa May retires after too much social pressure and threats

This title is FALSE! I chose this title because i think its very likely to happen as it must be really stressful to be her.

  • Donald Tusk agrees with Theresa May about delaying Brexit 3 more months.
This is supposed to be FAKE!!!
If this headline got shared to the world, it would make people from different countries confused and cross with the EU by supporting Theresa May.

  • Theresa May decides to burn parliament!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THIS IS A FAKE HEADLINE

IF THIS WOULD BE SPREAD ONLINE THERESA MAY WOULD END IN PRISON

  • My headline is: Donald Tusk has banned electronics, internet and social media in the EU

    it´s supposed to be: FAKE
If this headline got shared to the world...it would be a massive impact because technology has been really important to improve things and develop the world. And if they ban it, the new generation of us, young kids, kind of need technology so it would be a chaos. As you know they sterotipe teen´s with phones and video games because we need technology to improve.
But i am not saying we really really need it but it is good to have it.

  • Brexit Pandemonium!

It is supposed to be realistic

If it got shared, people would understand what Brexit is like and how much work is being put to it.

  • “POLITICIANS STOP BREXIT”

This headline is fake news since the politicians are fighting over Brexit or no Brexit however, there has been no second referendum for the politicians or the citizens on whether they should leave or remain. If they did have a second referendum, I believe that it would be fair and unfair. The reasons I believe that it is fair is because the people might have not been educated enough to vote. However, since everyone is fighting for remain and the politicians also want remain and there is not much fighting for leave, the people will only have one viewpoint and after that will vote remain.

It would have negative consequences if it was shared to a news platform (especially Social media) since the news can spread extremely quickly around. The negative consequences is that the people would not know which news platform that the news has come from because it might have been shared without the source and this would make them think that it is reliable news. The people who are reading this misleaded, illegitimate news headline would judge it wrongly and then they would be extremely angry for untrue news since the politicians are taking control of the vote. This would send a negative message that only politicians have a say but not the citizens and the people will question how we have changed from a democratic country (where everyone 18 and over have the right to vote for decisions) to a constitutional country (where only the politicians and government makes decisions on the behalf of the citizens). In addition, many people are saying that the vote in 2016 is leave however, we are not leaving and it would be devastating if the people knew that politicians stopped Brexit from happening in an instant.

(As well as having negative consequences), this headline can also be positive to people since every politician is voting and it expresses a correct vote, rather than only ¾ or ½ of the people voting. In addition, politicians have expertise and knowledge in politics and what they are voting for after many years ; maybe it would better if the politicians helped with Brexit rather that people, who could be uneducated, voting in a referendum.

  • my headline is ...deal or no deal

  • my headline is brexit beakdown
