Well, if there was a gender pay gap and women could be paid less than men then wouldn’t women just be employed instead of men and women? It has also been illegal since 1970. Also, the 78% of large companies don’t pay men more than women for the same work they just pay overall more money to men than women because of the choices that each gender makes and most senior positions are occupied by men. This is because most senior jobs are occupied by people over the age of 50, this is a reflection of the past generation not of the current one.

Thank you very much Loyalwolf for commenting of what you thought about this headline. I understand where you are coming from. You said “that gender pay has been illegal since 1970.” But! Did you know the UK gender pay gap regulations only apply to 34% of employees? So 66% have to suffer and feel like their have been mistreated. Do you think it is acceptable?

I think you’re missing my point, I am trying to establish that it is not as simple as men being paid more for the job. It is a much more complex issue. For example, the figures produced by the public are based on pay for similar jobs. This does not take into account the person’s shift patterns or how many absences they have had. This is just a general figure. Obviously, there are cases where women are paid less than men I am not dismissing that but it is not as common as it appears or as the media portrays. We as a race should solve the serious issues such as sexual harassment in the work place.

  4. I feel as if having gender pay gaps is picking favourites except that there is only one choice when picking favourites, the males. A female worker once found out that they were getting a lower pay than their co worker, who was male, and quit her job.
