AI

AI is a rapid growth in technology. AI stands for artificial intelligence. It is all around us now from simple google to cashiers or factory workers. AI is even shown in movies, for example, the 2005 classic film, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Mr. Bucket loses his job in the toothpaste industry to an AI arm which can do his job faster. In the comments of a YouTube video showing this scene, a person wrote “This scene feels way more relevant today with the rise of AI.”. This shows how AI is a hinderance and an issue to others as well as me but also the massive problem with AI where it is forcing people into unemployment.

In my opinion, more labor jobs like factory workers, builders or road workers will lose out on their jobs due to AI. This is both a good and terrible thing due to it causing less injury but also causing more unemployment for people with strength and hard work as their main attributes.

  • Hi mesmerising_rainforest, well done for the post and the good observation of the film! Around your point about AI may cause unemployment for people with strength, do you think it could also be another cause for people with strength to work towards other industries/areas that do not require strength? Or, is it possible to say that AI can drive the socio and cultural shift for the social classes and social structure?
