Prisons in Ecuador

This post was written by a student. It has not been fact checked or edited.

My topic is about someone who escaped from prison on the suspicion of being a drug dealer.

He somehow escaped from prison on January 7th 2024 and police are still on the search for him. He was well known in Ecuador as ‘Fito’. In my opinion I think it was a good idea for them to throw him in jail. I believe that ‘Fito’ is a powerful, dangerous man that could cause a lot of harm to people that he's near to.

Although throwing him in Jail meant he couldn't escape, the public was glad that he got caught so they wouldn’t have to suffer any longer. This caused the gang to stop selling drugs for a while until he’d escaped. An example to this is that this made the whole of Ecuador more safer to be outside than when he was on the loose.

He has a 34-year sentence for several crimes including drug trafficking, extortion and murder. He could lure people into being drug dealers and if they didn't he might have murdered them. Another example to this was that this could cause people to be harmed by him or injured or even worse killed they all had to be cautious of where they decided to go.

In conclusion , I think that criminals cause a lot of problems therefore it's a good punishment for people that break the law to be thrown in jail and my opinion on this is to keep the community safe. I think they should continue searching for this specific criminal as he is a huge threat to Ecuador. It would be safer if they caught him as it could cause people to not be worried from where they live. My opinion on this is that the prison system needs to punish criminals as well as to keep the community safe.

  • I’ll say ‘Prisons aren’t working’ because they really don’t understand the purpose of Prisons. Prisons are correctional centers and if inmates are to go to prisons and come out without going through some torture to reset their brains and make them persist on the right thins always after the prison experience, then they did not go to the correctional centers, neither did they go to the prisons and they’re obviously gonna commit more crimes then before and they don’t fear going to prisons because there’s no torture and infact ‘Prison is Comfy!’ They would say.

  • I think that the criminal should go to jail and that they should make prisons more secure.
