  • Hi I agree with you, the word feminist what does it mean well according to the Merriam webster dictionary a feminist is a person who supports feminism, and the word feminism means a belief in and advocacy of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes expressed especially through organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests, true to that but nowadays people have made the title feminist look like a title given to those women who think that they should be more superior than men, but this is wrong a feminist doesn't only represent the female gender but also the male gender, it is a word for people who believe in gender equality and not in gender competition, a feminist is a person who knows that the world can live equally with man and woman and not a fanatic who thinks that the feminine gender is meant to be in charge.
Thank you for seeing my views.

  • Yes I do agree with you from childhood womens and mens are taught to behave in a certain-scripted manner like since childhood boys are taught,"don't cry like girls"...is it right that only a girl to express her problems by crying?..can't boys have this right or will this make boy's so called image not superior or weak infont of society...I also want to ask why always boys are asked to protect the girls? Can't girls protect themselves? Instead of this we can go to the root cause of protecting that is women are to be protected from men by men..is it right! instead of teaching boys to protect girls we can teach them to respect girls and see them with respectful eyes or if not this way girls should be taught of self defence techniques like karate to protect themselves..!!

  • I also believe that stereotype is the main cause of gender inequality. These stereotype usually starts from home and extends to the outer society. We need to take a step and start stopping stereotype from home so that others will also support us. We can help by allowing ourselves to do all kinds of home chores irrespective of our gender. By doing so, we are indirectly creating awareness for gender equality.

    1. I agree with your point that stereotype starts from home. For us to prevent the spread of stereotype, we need to start from home. Our parents are the key people that will stop it from home by asking us to do different chores irrespective of our gender. We can cook as boys and also help to take care of our younger ones. At the same time the girls to can do other things that are meant for the boys to do and the parents should learn to encourage us to do that. My doing so it will be a motivator for us to go to the outside world and engage in other activities without criticism.
Also if we grow up with this kind of ideology that everyone can do anything, we can be able to support all kinds of gender in the future work

      1. Sorry that other comment was by mistake I was trying to argue with ambitious panther that yes stereotyping starts from home but they are still wait for us to combat it like enlightening the public about the dangers of stereotyping or we could Challenge ourassumptions: When you catch yourself making assumptions about someone based on their appearance or background, take a moment to question those assumptions and consider whether they are fair or accurate.

      2. I agree with you ambitious panther that stereotyping is not a good personality to have. Stereotype literally means the act of applying one idea one a group of people, which can be gender or race.. Parents can stop stereotyping at home by having well distributed chores regardless of gender. Also discuss gender equality amongst the family. If people don't stop stereotyping it will end in bad results that can reduce development in the society
We are not only to exercise it at home but we should exercise it every where we go.
We can discourage stereotyping in the society by :
1 Showing people that not all people in a group have the same attitude or habits or way of thinking
2 Volunteer in a community different from yours
3 Supporting people that need support
All these things can give people a different perspective on other people.

  • Women in past couldn't appear in media but now we live in 2024 the 21th century women by now should have their full rights to appear in media and talk about there opinions on stuff and actually now they do but there are still to our day differences between men and women in media in alot of things like unequal salary that one of the most essential thing that shouldn't happen but until today there are some agencies and companies who do not pay ther workers equally and that is a disaster and also bunch of other things that people still do it and it considered as non gender equality so I support gender equality in media for journalists, teachers, Doctors and female engineers, etc.
    Thank you

  • I'm not very sure if I am ok with this. The reason I say this is because women should not have to accept bias from men. Women should be treated equally and not treated as if they are much weaker and enabled by men. If anything women should be on top with all the hard work and labor that we do, even just on the same level as men would work out.

    1. Indeed, you are correct. Why does society treat women unfairly and unjustly while they are also members of society and have the same fundamental human rights as men? In my opinion, if we want to be change agents, we must speak up for what is right and be authentic.

    2. I agree with your point because women are being mistreated by men and that is not good. now, this is where gender equality comes in, we are supposed to be treated equally. women are being mistreated because some people think that women are not capable of doing the things that men can do, women are not supposed to accept social bias from men. some women are accepting bias because they are scared of men so I think that stereotypes are to be broken.

  • Hi fantastic_song,
I am truly impressed with your standpoint and agree with it 100%. You have presented your standpoint in a very understandable and swift way. I love how in such a short period of time, you have addressed to almost every problem us women/girls have to go through and how it is imperative for us to fix this.
As you said, gender stereotypes take root from our own homes and so, we must cut it out from there instead of slowly making it toxic. Thank you for throwing light on this, I really appreciate it a lot.

  • The word feminism has largely been misunderstood so much so that even females are avoiding its use. There should be an advocacy to correct this impression before we can begin to push for embracing the full spectrum. I had hoped that correcting this stereotype should come from home but how can someone who doesn't have the necessary information correct it? I think the school is the place where the war against stereotypes should be waged. Schools should deliberately begin to change the way certain professions are portrayed. I suggest that a curriculum could even be developed to address these stereotypes at all levels of the school system.

  • I donot know why people differenciate in treatments beteen man and woman .We are all humans and the woman should take her chances in our community . Woman is doing a great role in home but this doesn't mean that she doesnot have to work . I think that woman's work is the most important thing for her. We see that now women is raising her childeren and do housework and also working . In the past woman didnot take her chance but now we see that woman is taking her chances and is appreciated more . Although men and women donot do the same thing but each one wants the other . And at last both of them have to be appreciated .

  • Yes, feminism has indeed become a very controversial term. In simple words feminism is equality. But today people view feminism as dominance of women. They have started to view feminism is about hating men or getting through anything just because someone is a woman. I think that it is really wrong, that the society thinks of feminism as this and that it is a misunderstood word. I think feminism isn't about "ladies first" but about placing every gender equally, where nobody is first or prioritised. This misunderstanding regarding this word is igniting hatred between the genders. I think it is really important that people understand this and work towards a future with equal opportunities.

    1. I agree, equal opportunities are very important within society. How do you think you could change stereotypes about feminism?

      1. Hello Molly,
I think to change such stereotypes about feminism at my level, I could talk to people about them and spread awareness as it is rightly said "Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity". I have seen many people around me mock feminism, whether that be from any gender. I have also seen people use feminism as an excuse and to benefit themselves. Whenever I witness such things I try to talk to those individuals and remind them what the true meaning of feminism is. Though, it is hard to change some people's mind but some actually do listen and change themselves. I think this is a small step which gives a small outcome but if everybody does try to initiate a conversation with someone who thinks about feminism in a stereotyped way and tries to show them the truth, this small step could lead to big outcomes with collective effort.

      3. You know I am a great believer of the term When life gives you lemons you should turn it into lemonade. Just like that I believe there is various possibilities in every aspects. You know that women's right is equivalent to human right therefore it is necessary for us to provide the necessary support to the gender and to the people for able to create a better society in general. I believe that confronting feminism stereotypes is more like a journey than a process that can be completed in a single step. Most importantly, I accept it's really vital to begin teaching individuals about orientation correspondence and the historical backdrop of ladies' privileges developments since the beginning. Like, envision on the off chance that schools made it something customary to discuss astounding people like Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, and Malala Yousafzai, who've been battling for balance. That's what by doing, we can assist everybody with understanding what's truly going on with woman's rights. Then, at that point, there's the media. It's such a major powerhouse, correct? As a result, it's critical to push for more positive and diverse feminism depictions in media. Like, showing interviews with women's activists from various foundations can truly assist with separating generalizations and show that woman's rights isn't only a certain something — it's a wide range of things to a wide range of individuals. Additionally, we must include men in the conversation. Men genuinely must comprehend women's liberation as well, you know? Facilitating studios where fellows can discuss stuff like harmful manliness and honor can truly assist them with perceiving how woman's rights benefits everybody. And afterward there's this large word — diversity. Essentially, it's tied in with perceiving that women's liberation isn't just about orientation — it's additionally about how orientation converges with different things like race and class. By focusing a light on that, we can challenge generalizations all the more really and make women's liberation more comprehensive. Ultimately, playing wonderful part models who encapsulate women's activist qualities is critical. I'm looking at exhibiting pioneers from varying backgrounds, particularly those from underestimated networks, to show that women's liberation isn't only for one kind of individual. No doubt I believe in the event that we set everything in motion, we can thoroughly change generalizations about women's liberation and make our general public an all the more fair and equivalent spot for everybody.
