Gender Inequality is Underlooked

This post was written by a student. It has not been fact checked or edited.

Did you know that the majority of women who are ages 18-49 receive 75% of discrimination regularly, and women who are ages 50 and above receive 63% discrimination regularly. This is what my standpoint will be about, “Women In Media”. This may sound familiar because it is a universal thing. Usually, it is just about stereotypes, discrimination, and much more. It can be a lot to deal with, which is why I want to point it out. “Women In Media” may not be something that is not talked about a lot, but it deserves to be. Women deserve better appreciation, but that statement is unfortunately underlooked.

Some people may think women are weak, and are entitled to do certain jobs/careers. They are portrayed as powerless compared to men, who are “superior”. Many of these problems cause expectations in society. It can also cause gender inequality among women who are now expected to do or act a certain way according to how “they are supposed to be like”, but many people do not understand that women are worth more than that. Not all women will be up to your standards, and there has to be an understanding there. Why are women seen to be weak? Why can women not do stuff other people can do? Why is it women who get limited to doing this they want to do, or love to do?

People can be unfair to women in the world. Some examples would be paycheck inequality, job opportunities, career paths, and all of these can revolve around important necessities that we will all think about. It is not as easy as it is to get a job if being a woman around your environment means something. Being a woman may not get you to where you want to be because people have already placed their expectations on you. Different perspectives can vary on how people think about you, but not everything will work out. Some may use you to their advantage, look down on you, or just not care at all. It should not be like this because everyone is human. People need to treat women with the same respect that you would treat others because they are capable of many things ,Thank you.
