my stand point

My point is about women in media. I personally think that we dont see enough of women in media.I feel like that women are looked down on in many jobs but espicially in the media. In media it seems like women's achievements aren't shown as much as men's but sometimes the women's achievements could be a lot bigger and lot more important and in the society we live in it feels like we have been set up to believe that women and their achievements don't mean as much as men's .Now even though we are becoming more of an accepting society we still have the older generation who pass down there beliefs who then pass it down to there children and then we have a cycle of generations who still believe that women aren't at the same level as men and that men are superior to women which is intact not true. Many amazing things that have happened and that have developed studies have come from women.

  • Yes, women are still not treated equally in some places in the world, but we are closer than ever to gender parity! You make the point that women aren't shown enough in media, but you're forgetting about the women who ARE shown in media. Just think about Simone Biles, you have to remember that in her time she completely took over the media, and inspired many other women. In the 2016 Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, she was the first female gymnast to win four gold medals in a single Olympics, and she also won 6 all-around world titles. And another one of her mind-blowing accomplishments is that she's won 30 world championship medals, with 23 out of the 30 of them being GOLD! And if you still need more evidence of women being represented a ton in the media, look no further than these two-Malala Yousafzai, and Kamala Harris. When Malala was only eleven, she decided to speak out against the Taliban taking away her right to education. Then, in 2014, after surviving being shot by the Taliban for speaking out, she won a Nobel Peace Prize. Which was obviously all over the media, being the YOUNGEST FEMALE laureate in history. And then you have Kamala Harris, the first female Vice Pres., the first African American Vice Pres., and the first South Asian American Vice Pres. to be elected to this position. Which supports my point that women are very much represented and shown in the media. This isn't the same world it was maybe 30 years ago, where if a woman did something, the credit would be taken by a man. This a new world, where women can rule.

    1. Hello hardworking hippopotamus.

I personally agree to what you have said because firstly, women have been discriminated but due to modernization, and education we have come to see that women are as important as men are because they also are women. Some women have gone true bad experiences when it comes to job interviews and application for some jobs which some women are being told that they will not be able to carry out the task given to her because she is female. Many women have gone true such instances, and some have experienced sexual harassment from their bosses at work and even by others. Women in media have also suffered discrimination from some members of the public. Without women we will not have existed, so they deserve respect and care from each and every one of us in the society. I want to urge all of us on this platform to respect and care for everyone without discriminating one another.

      Thank you!!!

  • True, in my country, there are more men workers than females because it is believed that women should only do house chores, take care of the children, etc while men's go to work. But while watching the news, I was really happy to see that more women are involved in the media than men in my country. It was really a proud moment for all the human beings that women are fighting for their rights and create a new world where they can also rule. Even though, in some places, women are getting paid low than the men who is working the same job. I hope that people will know more about this and more efforts will be made to address these issues and promote more equitable opportunity for women in media.

  • You're right, we don't see enough women in the media, and it feels like their achievements aren't given as much attention as men's. This creates a belief that women's accomplishments aren't as important. Even though society is getting better, older beliefs still influences us. But it's not true that men are superior to women. Many incredible things, including important studies, have come from women. In my opinion women should be independent now .
    Thanks

  • There might be women that are shown in media and that isn't paid attention to, we only focus about the people all over the world but instead we can find out country by country.

    1. I agree with this, but, I do feel as though men in media do get pushed to the top, if you understand that. Although, i don't quite understand when you say 'instead we can find out country by country.' Are you referring to the fact that if one decides to look at the news in there country, they will find more women in there, contrary to if you look at the world's news. If so, I'm not sure I can say i would agree with you on that, especially if the country is more sexist towards women.
